One of the more unusual musical family stories is related by Buddy Killen, songwriter, performer and music publisher who lived in the Sweetwater community in East Florence, who tells of his family’s musical legacy and how in the era of party-line phones his family would sing and all those on the party-line would pick up and often join in.  These listeners would crank the telephone to an exact number of times to signify Grandma Killen’s code.
